English professor Donald Margulies’ play “Time Stands Still” received a stellar review from the New York Times’ Christopher Isherwood in Friday’s paper. Isherwood wrote:

There is nothing showy or histrionic in Mr. Margulies’s fluid, often funny writing or in the work of the director, Daniel Sullivan. “Time Stands Still” weaves a quiet spell of moment-to-moment truth, but the jolts of heightened drama spring at you with unnerving ferocity.

After an initial run last spring the Tony-nominated play, starring Laura Linney, reopened on Broadway Thursday.

Isherwood recently had different feelings about another Yale-related production.
