‘The Science of Brewing’ incites the envy of Times blogger

It sounded good to us too.

In a blog post musing on the varied course offerings these days (aw, those crazy kids) Caren Osten Gerszberg, a blogger for The Choice gave a shout out to the residential college seminar “The Science of Brewing.”

From the “The Challenges of Zoo Management” at Syracuse and the “Science of Brewing” at Yale to “Race, Class and Gender” (a k a “Porn Studies”) at the University of Illinois at Chicago and the “The Philosophy of Star Trek” at Georgetown, I began to wonder if, faced with some of these options, I would have dropped Beethoven and concentrated on the deeper motives of Captain Kirk and Mr. Spock.

And perfect timing! Last night we got the news that college seminars would be returning for the spring.
