THE NEWS

  • All things being equal … In an effort to increase parity between the experiences of students in different residential colleges, administrators have cut funding to the three wealthiest colleges. And unsurprisingly, some students and administrators aren’t too happy.
  • Universities across the country have reported increases in the number of older faculty over the past few years, and Yale’s no exception: According to Deputy Provost Lloyd Suttle, very few tenured professors at Yale retire each year, and this has not changed for some time. What does this mean for younger, up-and-coming profs?
  • Dixieland delight: For his new book, History of Art professor Alexander Nemerov traveled to obscure Civil War battlegrounds and the grave of a Confederate colonel in North Carolina. Read more about Nemerov’s travels, and his book, in tomorrow’s News.
