Yale art thief sentenced to 3 years

The man charged with stealing 39 pieces of art from various Yale and New Haven buildings, including the Joseph Slifka Center for Jewish Life and the New Haven Public Library, was sentenced to three years in prison on Friday, the New Haven Register reported.

The artworks were found at the home of 48-year-old drug dealer Bruno Nestir in March of 2009, along with heroin, packets of marijuana, cash money and firearms.

Superior Court Judge Roland Fasano gave Nestir an eight-year sentence, suspended after three years following testimonials of Nestir’s history with mental illness and substance abuse.
