Just hours before former President Bill Clinton LAW ’73 is scheduled to speak at Class Day, a bomb scare closed High Street between Chapel and Elm streets at about 11 Sunday morning. The Yale and New Haven Police departments and the State Police responded to a suspicious package near the tomb of Skull and Bones. The New Haven Fire Department was also called to the scene as a precaution. Officers in full-body bomb protective gear used an X-ray machine and found that the package contained CDs. High Street reopened at 12:15 p.m. Earlier this month, a bomb squad responding to a report of a suspicious package on Beinecke Plaza found that the box was filled with books. In other security-related news, the Yale Police Department’s SWAT team has been mobilized today to provide security for Class Day.
