New Haven’s port is the 55th most trafficked port in the United States, employing 600 people. The port’s developers have big ambitions to redevelop the waterfront, expand its terminals, diversify the products it handles to include biofuels and improve railway access. Though the harbor is heavily trafficked in the summer months by recreational boaters, it’s during the winter when most of the terminals are busiest: importing petroleum and home heating oil.
