As government leaders from around the world meet in Copenhagen this week for the United Nations Climate Change Conference, heavyweights from the Yale Department of Geology & Geophysics — Mark Pagani, John Wettlaufer, Jeffrey Park and David Bercovici — decided to weigh in on the debate over global warming.

“Many lines of evidence and study tell us about the effects of carbon dioxide release,” they wrote in an opinion piece published online by the News today. “In the past, large increases in Carbon Dioxide corresponded to major warming events. It is unwise to think that today’s increase in Carbon Dioxide will, for some reason, produce a different outcome.”
