In an e-mail to the student body Wednesday morning, Yale College Council President Jon Wu ’11 announced the line-up for the Yale Comedy Fest, taking place for the first time this Saturday from 7 to 10 p.m. in Sudler Hall. The show will include performances from five Yale improv troupes as well as appearances by Chocolate Cake City (from Emerson College), Hammerkatz (from New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts) and We Do Stand-Up, a Boston-based comedy group. The Comedy Fest is meant to replace the annual Fall Comedy Show that is now scheduled for winter 2010. Wu said in an interview Tuesday the YCC moved the show’s traditional date in order to accommodate performers’ conflicts. He added, however, that this weekend’s event will be a worthy substitute.

“What’s great about the [Comedy Fest] is that it’s a very low budget event,” Wu said.
