Dim sum and then sum. Yalies headed to their dining halls for Sunday brunch might be surprised to find them closed. Yale Dining will be closing all college dining halls other than Calhoun and Trumbull on Sunday morning and relocating food operations to Old Campus, where they will offer Chinese, Japanese, Spanish, French, Colombian, American, Greek and Italian dishes.

“Beer and alcohol are hereby forbidden” in the entirety of Rudolph Hall, according to an e-mail sent yesterday by John Jacobsen, associate dean of the School of Architecture. The e-mail came in response to the “willful violation of [the] directive prohibiting further student initiations” at the Architecture School. Anyone found drinking will be “dealt with harshly.”

For Monday’s Labor Day holiday, Silliman will serve hot breakfast and will keep its doors open from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. after lunch for cold food and soup. Calhoun and Ezra Stiles will extend dinner until 8 p.m., but don’t plan on making a late night stop to Durfee’s: All retail dining is closed.

So does this mean Letterman is the prime minister of late night? Visiting lecturer Tony Blair will be making a guest appearance on David Letterman’s “Late Show” on Tuesday, Reuters reported yesterday. No word yet on whether Blair will increase the number of appearances he makes to his own seminar this semester.

More to love. Modern Love is returning to campus tonight. The location: 216 Dwight Street, 12 a.m. The brief: Dance your heart out.

As if the construction noise weren’t bad enough … By 9:30 a.m. yesterday, the New Haven Fire Department had already showed up to Branford College twice. There appeared to be something wrong with the exhaust in the kitchen, which kept setting off the alarm. The kitchen was evacuated, and the fire marshal is investigating.

Waiting to be uncommon. The new convenience store’s opening has been delayed until Sept. 14 because Yale Dining officials are waiting for air conditioning to be installed.

At least we’re not douchey. Yale is not listed in the September issue of GQ magazine’s list of “America’s douchiest colleges,” but we do get an honorable mention in Princeton’s listing as the “eating-club douche.” Brown is the No. 1 douchiest college. Congrats, Emma.

This day in Yale history
