Part 1

Part 2

Cody Pomeranz ’15 continues his Everybody Has a Story segment, featuring a new and fascinating campus figure each week. Today, he sits down with the current Director of Undergraduate Studies of the Global Affairs Major, Sean Smith, to learn about the nature of crisis communications, discuss the future of Global Affairs at Yale, and assess the world and myriad threats President Obama will face in his second term. Smith is an expert on communications and national security, previously serving as the Assistant Secretary for Public Affairs under Janet Napolitano at the Department of Homeland Security and currently serving as the Senior Vice President of Crisis Communications at Porter Novelli, a major public relations firm.
