Admissions Office celebrates V-Day with love poem contest
1 CommentLove is in the air at the Office of Undergraduate Admissions, which announced a rosy, Valentine’s-themed “I <3 Handsome Dan Poetry Contest” this week on its official Facebook page.
The contest — which prompts high school students who are applying to Yale to write a “Yale-themed love poem” on the Admissions Office’s Facebook page — offers students the chance to have their poetry featured on the official Yale Admissions Tumblr, as long as they post their poems by 6 p.m. on Feb. 14. Eight hours after being announced, the contest already received 14 Facebook “likes” and four poem entries.
Enthusiastic prospective students jumped at the opportunity, spilling out their hearts’ desires to the Admissions Office’s Facebook page.
“I love Handsome Dan / Like he’s my own pet / Won’t meet him ‘till August / Haven’t been accepted … YET,” wrote one student.
The Yale University Facebook page has also added a festive touch to its Facebook page — a “Happy Valentine’s Day from Yale” cover photo featuring members of the Yale Precision Marching Band lined up in the shape of a heart.
