The Yale gymnastics team posted a season-high point total at its first home meet of the season, placing second out of four teams at the competition that honored former Yale coach Don Tonry.

The Yale gymnastics team will host its first home meet on Saturday, but the first annual Don Tonry Invitational has a special meaning to anyone who has been part of the Yale gymnastics program since 1962. A lynchpin of Yale gymnastics, Tonry was a coach, an Olympian and an administrator. He died at the age of 78 in May 2013.

Despite posting the highest score in an opening meet in program history, the Yale gymnastics team fell to the University of New Hampshire Wildcats on Sunday, 195.9–191.175.

Yale football appears to have scored big in the offseason when Bo Hines, a wide receiver from North Carolina State, announced his intentions to transfer to Yale in the fall. Hines, a true freshman, led the Wolfpack in both catches and yards on the season.

WOMEN’S BASKETBALL: Gobrecht makes history over break

Though the Yale women’s basketball team won just three of its seven games played over break, the Bulldogs experienced a few major highlights, including guard Tamara Simpson’s ’18 last-minute game-winning layup against Maine and head coach Chris Gobrecht’s program-record 108th victory in a win over Wagner.
