On Friday night, police arrested the second man wanted for a murder committed two years ago.

According to a Sunday email sent by New Haven Police Department spokesman David Hartman, 28-year-old New Haven resident Joseph Mirvil was shot little over one mile away from campus in the Malcom Court section of the Church Street South housing complex on Sept. 18, 2012. Police secured an arrest warrant for then 20-year-old John Claudio less than two weeks later.

But Claudio was not the only person involved in the crime, and last Monday, detectives secured a warrant for his accomplice, 20-year-old New Haven resident Xavier Yancey. On Friday at about 6:30 p.m., officers patrolling Liberty Street spotted Yancey and proceeded to stop and arrest him without incident.

Police have charged Yancey with felony murder and set his bond at $500,000.
