Chance The Rapper, one of the lead acts for this year’s Spring Fling, has cancelled on Saturday’s festivities.

Yale College Council Events Director Eli Rivkin ’15 and Spring Fling Committee Chair Erica Leh ’15 confirmed to the news Tuesday that Chance The Rapper will not be performing on Saturday due illness.

“I have confirmation from his agent that he will not be able, due to health reasons, perform at this year’s Spring Fling,” Rivkin said.

Chance The Rapper, whose real name is Chancelor Bennett, was hospitalized on Saturday after falling ill Friday night, according to his Twitter page. On the same day, he cancelled his second weekend of performances at the major music festival Coachella.

Leh said that Bennett’s doctors had ordered him not to perform.

Rivkin said that the organizers of Spring Fling are currently in the process of securing another performer, which they expect to announce tonight.

“We are very confident that this year’s spring fling will be the best it’s ever been, despite this minor setback,” Rivkin said.
