The Luna Bars offered at Yale Dining retail locations may not be safe for consumption.
In an email to the student body, Director of Yale Dining Rafi Taherian wrote that Yale will be voluntarily recalling all Chocolate Chunk Luna Bars due to packaging mislabeling. Since mid-January, these bars have been sold in such participating vendors as Durfees, Uncommon, and Thain Family Cafe, he said.
“These bars were made with macadamia nut butter,” Taherian said. “But the packaging does not include macadamia nut in the ingredient list or allergen statement.”
Although Clif Bar & Company is offering coupons to replace the recalled bars with nut-free ones, Yale Dining will also accept returns of the unmarked bars at Durfees.
Affected bars are ones with the  “Best By” Dates November 11th, 2014 and October 14, 2014. Further, the bars’ UPC— Universal Product Code— is 7-22252-10068-9.
LUNA Bars are a brand of nutrition bar created by Clif Bar & Company in 1999.
