Wide receiver Deon Randall ’15 was voted the 137th captain of the Yale football team by his teammates at the team banquet Monday night.

Randall has been the Bulldogs’ star on offense this season, dominating through the air and on the ground. He caught 85 balls for 788 yards and eight touchdowns. He has also excelled in the running game, rushing for 176 yards and three scores.

Not only did Randall act as the focal point of the Eli attack, he also returned kicks and even took a few snaps as a defensive back.

“I’ve gotten to know Deon over the last couple of years, and he truly is a wonderful person,” said assistant head coach and running backs coach Larry Ciotti last week. “[He’s] very focused on life and extremely focused on football as well.”

Though Randall came in as a member of the class of 2014, he missed the entire 2012 season due to a shoulder injury and took a semester off to help him recover.

Randall will be the first captain to play primarily on the offensive side of the field since fellow wideout Chandler Henley ’07 was captain during the 2006 season.
