At approximately 6:22 p.m. this evening, Yale lost power across campus. The outage appears to have only affected buildings powered by the Yale power plant.

Several fire trucks were seen outside the power plant shortly before 7 p.m. According to police representative outside the Yale Power Plant, a substation “blew a transformer,” causing power to go out across central campus. Officers at the scene are remaining tight-lipped, and there is no estimate on when the power will be restored.

Police are stationed outside the Yale power plant to ensure that no one goes inside. The gates to the power plant are currently open.

Internet was down across campus and libraries were evacuated.

Update: 7:33 p.m.

Power has returned to parts of campus, including many residential colleges.
