It looks like Yale was not the only Ivy League school eyeing Cory Booker LAW ’97 as a Class Day speaker: The Newark mayor will deliver a speech at Cornell University’s convocation on May 25, the Cornell Class of 2013 Convocation Committee announced today.

Perhaps the double scheduling isn’t surprising — Booker has spoken at eight commencement ceremonies since 2009, including Stanford University’s last spring.

“When you look at the places he has spoken at in the last couple of years, he’s undoubtedly one of the most in-demand graduation speakers in the country this year,” Roneal Desai, chair of Cornell’s Convocation Ceremony Committee, told The Cornell Daily Sun.

Though seniors may not want to share their speaker, at least they will get him first — Booker is set to speak at Yale the weekend before he travels to Ithaca.

Booker is currently serving his second term as Mayor of Newark, N.J., and is slated to run for Senate in 2014.
