- Discussion is underway to improve the New Haven Green in anticipation of next year’s celebration of the 375th anniversary of the city’s founding. The Proprietors of the New Haven Green have hired the Project for Public Spaces, a nonprofit planning and design organization, to gather sentiment from stakeholders about how to improve the New Haven Green, according to head proprietor and Yale Law Professor Drew Days III.
- After spending 16 years serving as Trumbull College Master, Janet Henrich announced her plans to step down from her position at the end of the 2012-’13 academic year. Trumbull students said Henrich, who is also a professor in the Yale School of Medicine, is known for her visible presence in Trumbull and demonstrated interest in student initiatives.
- Last week, the Yale Office of Undergraduate Production launched a new program that will give students the opportunity to formally mentor other undergraduates working on theatrical productions. The OUP created 8 work-study positions to recruit the “Undergraduate Production Peer Advisors,” whose areas of expertise range from lighting to scenic design, said Rorie Fitzsimons, the senior technical director of the OUP. The Peer Advisors will be available to assist any students who want to stage theater productions by holding weekly “office hours” at the OUP and providing their contact information for support at other times.
