Former Yale College Council President Brandon Levin sent an email to the Yale community Thursday afternoon, soliciting student input on the search for Yale’s next president.

After University President Richard Levin announced he will step down last week, Yale Corporation Senior Fellow Edward Bass ’67 detailed the process for finding a successor, which will include formal student input for the first time. As student counselor to the search committee, Brandon Levin will be in charge of seeking student input and relaying those opinions to the Corporation.

“This is the first time in the University’s history that a student has been asked – in any official capacity – to play a part in the search for the next President of Yale,” Brandon Levin said in the email. “As such, we must take full advantage of this truly substantial opportunity to influence positively the course of our University’s future trajectory by offering our views that will inform the selection of its next leader.”

Brandon Levin said he will spend the upcoming weeks speaking to a number of campus organizations, and added that students could contact him directly by emailing brandon.levin@yale.edu or attending his office hours, shown below:

Wednesday, Sept. 12, in Bass Library Cafe (110 Wall St.) from 10 a.m. – 4 p.m.

Thursday, Sept. 13, in HGS 116 (320 York St.) from 10 a.m. – 4 p.m.

Monday, Sept. 17, in Kline Biology Tower Cafe (219 Prospect St.) from 10 a.m. – 4 p.m.

Tuesday, Sept. 18, in the Betts House Library (393 Prospect St., next to the Divinity School) from 10 a.m. – 4 p.m.

Brandon Levin also included a survey which community members could use to answer questions about the characteristics they would like to see in Yale’s next president.
