As far as Spring Fling-type activities go, Taio Cruz is a solid choice for headliner. But he wasn’t Cornell’s first pick to lead Slope Day — the Ithaca Ivy first faced a few rejections from big names before settling on the British pop star and rapper.

The Cornell Daily Sun reported that Flo Rida and Weezer both turned down offers to perform at Slope Day, which will take place on May 4. The Swedish DJ Avicii, who could’ve put on a good show by simply playing this video over and over again, was the selection committee’s first choice. Alt rockers Neon Trees will also play Slope Day.

Though the Yale College Council has not yet officially announced the Spring Fling lineup, news broke last week that T-Pain, Passion Pit and DJ 3LAU are scheduled to come to campus on Tuesday, April 24. Compare that to the performers announced for Harvard’s YardFest, Das Racist and The Cataracs. Seems like someone else got rejected, too.
