Students will now be receiving email notifications indicating when final grades are posted on SIS starting this semester, the Yale College Council announced in a Tuesday email.

The YCC, Yale ITS and the Registrar’s Office have been working for the past two months to produce an email notification system alerting students when a class’ final grade is ready. The system is designed to relieve students of having to log onto SIS repeatedly in order to find out when grades are posted, said Dan Stein ‘14, who chairs the YCC Tech Committee.

“We all often feel the urge to check our grades incessantly during break,” said YCC President Brandon Levin ‘13. “The institution of email notifications should ease stress on students.”

To protect students’ privacy, the email will not release the actual grade, but rather notify the student when a grade has been uploaded to SIS, Stein added.
