Us Yalies like to think we are smart — and apparently hip-hop artist Drake thinks we are, too.

The Canadian actor-turned rapper’s latest single “Make Me Proud” — currently the number one selling song on iTunes — gives a shout out to the University when talking about a woman who “has a future and a past.” He raps:

“Sound so smart like you graduated college / Like you went to Yale but you probably went to Howard.”

In this line, Drake draws comparisons between Yale and Howard University, a historically black college in Washington, D.C. The lyric website RapGenius explains that Drake’s usage of Yale and Howard in the same line is done to illustrate that the woman described in the song is “both an intelligent and proud black woman.”

Some Yalies, however, like to think that Drake is actually saying “Harvard,” not “Howard,” to imply that Elis are smarter than Cantabs.

“Make Me Proud” features guest artist Nicki Minaj and is the second song from Drake’s upcoming studio album “Take Care.” The Canadian-born rapper is scheduled to release the album on Nov. 15 of this year.
