- More than a decade after President Richard Levin committed about $500 million towards building construction on Science Hill, some faculty members are disappointed with progress thus far. This Science Hill initiative, which Levin announced in Jan. 2000, funded the renovations and the construction of four new buildings — the Class of 1954 Chemistry Research Building, the Class of 1954 Environmental Sciences Center, the Malone Engineering Center, and Kroon Hall — but the financial downturn has stalled plans for a fifth project: the Yale Biology Building.
- Over the next three weeks, Yalies will be able to immerse themselves in New Haven’s visual art culture, as hundreds of local and regional artists open up their studios to the public. Artspace, a non-profit arts organization based on Orange Street, is hosting its 14th annual City-Wide Open Studios festival, an event that spans three weekends from Oct. 12-30.
