Computers at New Haven’s Apple store displayed images of the late Steve Jobs, the company’s founder, as a tribute to his memory Wednesday night. Jobs, who died earlier in the day, struggled in a long and public battle with pancreatic cancer, the New York Times reported in an obituary. The tribute page displays the following:

“Apple has lost a visionary and creative genius, and the world has lost an amazing human being. Those of us who have been fortunate enough to know and work with Steve have lost a dear friend and an inspiring mentor. Steve leaves behind a company that only he could have built, and his spirit will forever be the foundation of Apple.”

He was 56.
