  • Yale community members calling to schedule a daytime shuttle ride this month have been greeted by a special message: the service is ending soon. Weekday door-to-door rides will end Feb. 28 in an effort to make Yale’s transit systems more efficient and sustainable. University officials say the cut will free up valuable security resources without hurting safety measures: the Special Services Van, 2-WALK, the Yale shuttle lines and the Nighttime Shuttle will continue.
  • Yale panlists may be on their way out — as of Feb. 4, students can no longer make new ones.After a recent slew of spamming attacks, Information Technology Services is cracking down on panlists, deleting old ones that have fallen out of use and placing a temporary moratorium on the creation of new ones as it reevaluates the service. Active panlists will continue to function normally for at least the remainder of this academic year, until ITS reaches a decision on whether to continue to rely on them, transition to the more complicated “mailman” lists or contract a similar service to replace both of those options.
  • A Hamden, Conn. resident was arrested on Cross Campus near the gate of Berkeley College’s North Court after an altercation with police that lasted over half an hour Tuesday. As the man asked to be Tasered, shouted profanity and rapped, onlookers surrounded the police operation and some even took pictures. Several students interviewed said they saw the incident as more of a curiosity than an obvious danger.
