The ECAC has named former Yale standout Jeff Hamilton ’01 one of its top 50 hockey players of all time. Hamilton is Yale’s all-time leading point scorer and played 157 games in the National Hockey League after graduation.

Hamilton was also the only Yale player ever to be named twice as a finalist for the Hobey Baker Award. He was a two-time Ivy League Player of the Year and three-time member of the All-ECAC first team.

Former head coach Tim Taylor called Hamilton “arguably the best offensive player ever to don the Yale uniform,” in a 2001 interview.

The ECAC is choosing its top 50 players in honor of the conference’s 50th anniversary. It is announcing five members of the all-time squad every two weeks leading up to the ECAC championship in March.

Eli defenseman Ray Giroux ’12 was named to the team in November.
