U.S. Sen. Richard Blumenthal LAW ’73 got a talking to today from none other than Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, the Washington Times reported.

Blumenthal, a freshman senator elected last November to replace U.S. Sen. Chris Dodd, showed up five minutes late to preside over the Senate, a dull task typically reserved for freshman senators of the majority party.

Because Blumenthal failed to turn up when Senate convened at 2 p.m., a frustrated Reid had to preside in his stead.

“You can’t do this,” Mr. Reid told Blumenthal when he arrived. “I need you here.”

Blumenthal took office just four weeks ago.
