In its latest effort to promote this Saturday’s “Charlie and the Chocolate Factory”-themed Freshman Dance, the Freshman Class Council has released a new promotional video.

The stop-motion animation features two “golden tickets” — the tickets being sold for the dance — that saunter into the screen, transform into people, and find love, all to the cheery tune of Lenka’s “The Show.”

FCC member John Gonzalez ’14, who created the video, said he found sudden inspiration while fiddling with the tickets he had yet to sell.

“I came up with the concept of them moving around, being like people,” he said. He produced the animation in his dorm room, taking over 400 individual photographs of the tickets on his bed and then stringing them together to create a stop-motion picture.

The result is a video with a quirky and homemade feel, one that the FCC hopes will boost ticket sales.

“I know we’re going to have a good event, and I believe the video is representative of what we’ll put on Saturday,” Gonzalez said.

The Freshman Dance will take place in Commons this Saturday, Feb. 5 from 10 p.m. to 1 a.m. Tickets are $7 if bought ahead of time and $10 at the door.
