  • There can be no doubt that alcohol has always been a part of Yale life; of late, though, administrators have grown more concerned with heavy binge drinking, and are looking into ways they can encourage healthier habits. In the WEEKEND cover story, Reporters Emily Foxhall and Danny Serna take a look at he current state of alcohol use.
  • Although no longer in office, former Governor M. Jodi Rell may finally see her plan for funding of 380 new, state-of-the-art-rail cars brought to fruition. According to an upcoming state Bond Commission meeting agenda, Rell’s successor, Governor Dan Malloy, hopes to move forward with her plan, needing approval from the commission to borrow $81.6 million for the purchase of the final 38 M-8 rail cars.
  • A sustained reduction in the number of students admitted to the Graduate School of Arts and Sciences this year may prove harmful to some departments. Some administrators who work in departments that consist of many different subfields said the cuts can be particularly harmful to the health of the program since only a few students enter the subfields each year.
