While some professors from out of town spent Tuesday night in hotels to stay close to Yale during the snowstorm, at least one professor took more drastic measures.

Chemistry professor Jonathan Ellman bedded down in his office for the night, he told us in an e-mail. Having heard from students and faculty that the college rarely canceled classes, and not wanting to risk an icy morning drive, the new faculty member “brought in an air mattress and slept in my office,” he said.

His verdict on the night? “A shower is located in the chemistry complex, so this really isn’t much of an inconvenience,” Ellman said.
