Harvardlunch.com could potentially be the best or worst idea since Random Dorm. Remember Random Dorm, the Chatroulette for college students? Harvardlunch.com, developed by Harvard junior Seth A. Riddley, takes the “meet random people” concept one step further — you actually meet them in person.

About 300 Harvard students use the website, which sets up “non-romantic” lunches between Harvard students, the Harvard Crimson’s FlyBy Blog reported. Harvardlunch.com states that its mission is to give Cantabs “the opportunity to meet and/or network with people you might never meet otherwise in the Harvard community.” Students using the site submit their name, Harvard e-mail address and house/dorm to be randomly set up.

In the past, Harvard has produced some successful social networking sites, including Facemash and of course, Facebook. But could Riddley succeed in taking the social networking experience into real life? Only time will tell.
