Regardless of whether rumors that the Food and Drug Administration will ban alcoholic energy drinks are true, the makers of Four Loko announced late Tuesday that they would voluntarily remove the caffeine from their beverage, which U.S. Senator-elect and Connecticut Attorney General Richard Blumenthal ’73 called a “witch’s brew.”

No word yet on whether the makers of Joose, a direct competitor of Loko, plan to remove the caffeine from their drank, as well.
