The Yale volleyball team (17-7, 11-2 Ivy) defeated Columbia (15-9, 7-6) 3–0 Friday night in a fight to stay atop the Ivy League. The Lions have challenged the top teams in the Ancient Eight, but failed to win a set in their defeat against the Bulldogs.

The Elis withstood five service aces to defeat Columbia for the second time this season with a straight set victory (25-21, 25-19, 27-25).

The night featured strong performances from a number of Yale players. Kendall Polan ’14, the four-time Ivy League Rookie of the Week winner, lead the team with 28 assists and 23 digs on the night. Bridget Hearst ’12 was the beneficiary of Polan’s assists with 14 kills.

A kill from Erica Reetz ’14 ended the night and guaranteed the Bulldogs an opportunity to regain the conference title with a win over Cornell tomorrow night.
