Men’s basketball forward Greg Mangano ’12, at 6′ 10″, is one of the tallest people on Yale’s campus. Today, he gained another distinction when he was named to the All-Connecticut 6 Preseason Team. The junior used his height and basketball skills to pull down 5.5 boards per game and block 2 shots per game a year ago. He also contributed 7.5 points per game.

“It’s exciting,” Mangano said about the announcement. “It’s nice; it’s an honor. I feel good about it.”

Other members of the All-Connecticut 6 Preseason Team include Justin Rutty of Quinnipiac, Central Connecticut’s Shemik Thompson, Derek Needham of Fairfield, Joe Zeglinski of Hartford, and Sacred Heart’s Jerrell Thompson. Mangano will be relied upon to help lead the Bulldogs this year in their quest for an Ivy League title. The Bulldogs begin their season against Quinnipiac this Saturday at 8 p.m. at the Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, Conn.
