A bomb threat made around 9 a.m. this morning caused a temporary evacuation of the Wexler-Grant Community School on Foote Street.

A phone call made to the library at Wexler-Grant, a public school for students in pre-K through eighth grade, announced that a bomb would be detonated at 10 a.m. The school was evacuated and police arrived to search the building. Students began re-entering the school around 10:40 a.m.

New Haven Police Department spokesman Joe Avery said the caller seemed to be an adult male.

The bomb threat marks the latest to hit New Haven in the past few months, after a string of threats in March.

On March 1, two anonymous cell phone calls forced the temporary closure of three other local schools: the Cooperative Arts and Humanities Interdistrict Magnet school, New Horizons School for Higher Achievement and the New Haven Academy. Similar threats prompted the evacuation of the Omni Hotel on March 8 and of the three downtown courthouses on March 30.
