W. LACROSSE | The women’s lacrosse team fell to No. 14 ranked James Madison at Reese Stadium on Saturday. The Bulldogs (1-2) lost 10-4 as they kicked-off their spring break schedule.

The two teams were neck and neck for over half of the game while goalie Whitney Quackenbush ’12 frustrated the JMU attack with multiple saves and the Elis continued to pressure up front.

“The defense really came together,” Quackenbush said. “We stuck together as a unit, especially in the first half where we were able to hold one of the best offenses in divison1 to only four goals.”

Kaitlyn Flatley ’11, as well as three freshmen, had tallies on the day. But about half way through the second half, the Dukes produced a scoring surge of four goals in two minutes to pull away from the Bulldogs.

“For our next game we are focusing on getting the draw and having more shot opportunities,” Flatley said.

Despite Quackenbush’s 13 saves, the Dukes were able to lead the Bulldogs by six goals as the final whistle sounded.

The Bulldogs return to competition Wednesday when they travel to UMass for a 4p.m. start. This will also mark the return of midfielder Logan Greer ’11, who had been finishing up her winter squash season.
