The 2010 Olympic Winter Games were winless for former Yale forward Natalie Babony ’06, who competed in five women’s hockey contests for Team Slovakia between Feb. 13 and Feb 22.

The Slovakians dropped all five games, starting with an 18–0 thrashing from Canada in their first competition of the Winter Games. After also losing to Sweden, Switzerland, and the Russian Federation, Team Slovakia fell today against China in the final classification games to finish in last place among eight teams.

Babony — a native of Whitby, Ontario, and a dual citizen of Canada and Slovakia — posted 87:39 of playing time during the Winter Games, notched four shots on goal, and earned one point from a single assist.

The Eli graduate found out about her nomination to the final roster of Slovakia’s Olympic squad on Dec. 29. She is the third player in Yale women’s hockey history to have been selected for an Olympic roster.
