Hearts for Haiti… The International Students’ Organization is hosting a charity date auction tonight from 7 to 10 p.m. at BAR to raise money for Haiti relief. Twenty-five girls and guys will be up for grabs.

…Cans for cash? The brothers of Alpha Delta Phi are inviting Yalies to drink for charity tonight; money netted from the empty cans and bottles will be donated to the Connecticut Food Bank. But in addition to funds, the event is raising eyebrows: Guests are encouraged to dress like the homeless.

Record spamming. Dozens of frustrated students have fallen prey to a viral e-mail sent by the Yale Record inviting them to dinner with McSweeney’s Internet Tendency editor Christopher Monks. While angry e-mails were in abundance, one student threatened to “Facebook stalk and judge” everyone who replied to the entire panlist.

Guess who’s coming to dinner? Students have been spotted recently in the Silliman dining hall armed with clipboards and appearing to record food waste and tray usage. The mysterious surveyors refused to disclose the purpose of their audit.

Berkeley, beware! Students have been warned to keep away from a junior in the college who has contracted chicken pox, Berkeley Dean Kevin Hicks said in a college-wide e-mail. Another infection was reported in Davenport earlier this month.

The curious case of the poisoned Crimson coffee will no longer be pursued by Harvard Police. Over the summer, six Harvard Medical School researchers were hospitalized after drinking coffee tainted with sodium azide. Months of investigation has yielded no suspects.

Get pumped for the superpipe! Jen Hudak, daughter of Saybrook Master Paul Hudak, will compete in the finals of the Winter X-Games Women’s Superpipe competition. The event will be televised on ESPN at 7 p.m.

New Haven Police Chief James Lewis has set a firm date for his departure: Feb. 28. Lewis announced last month that he would step down but agreed to help to find his replacement. His successor is yet to be announced, but Lewis said there is a “good possibility” the city will select a finalist before he leaves.

1942 The occupants of room 135 in Welch Hall saw their suite engulfed in flames. While campus police and neighbors were able to put out the fire relatively quickly, it consumed one casualty: the room’s old rocking chair.
