Connecticut Attorney General Richard Blumenthal LAW ’73 announced this week that he is investigating whether to fix the prices of seasonal flu vaccines in the state. Blumenthal’s office announced in a statement that it has been receiving allegations of vaccines being sold at prices as high as $100, several times the normal price. The statement also said officials may soon investigate allegations that certain pharmacies and retailers have been receiving preferential treatment in distribution of the vaccine. Blumenthal said in the statement that he has written to 13 drug makers and distributors asking for detailed information about their vaccine operations. “I will prosecute to the fullest extent of the law companies or individuals who seek to profiteer from the seasonal flu vaccine shortage,” he said.
