Connecticut Gov. M. Jodi Rell recognized the service of one of the state’s former leading legislators Wednesday. In an official proclamation, Rell named Thursday, Feb. 19, Rep. William Dyson Day, in honor of the New Haven Democrat’s service to the state. Dyson, who retired from the Connecticut General Assembly earlier this year, has said he may challenge New Haven Mayor John Destefano Jr. in this November’s mayoral elections. Before he left the General Assembly, Dyson was the longest serving member of the state House of Representatives, having served since 1977.
