Following bipartisan votes of approval in both the House and Senate, President Barack Obama signed the State Children’s Health Insurance Program reauthorization bill Wednesday, alongside Rep. Rosa DeLauro. The bill, renewed until 2013, will provide health care for 11 million children — including 4.1 million currently uninsured. The bill is paid for in part by a 62-cent increase per pack in the federal excise tax on cigarettes.
