Deputy Economic Development Director Tony Bialecki announced Wednesday the state of Connecticut is still planning to go out to bid on the $200 million Gateway Community College project that is slated to begin construction in June. At the monthly meeting of the New Haven Economic Development Commission, commissioners also said the city is on track to break ground on the 360 State St. project in December. The State Street development recently received approval for tax exemption status and will include 500 apartments, 50 of which will be “affordable housing.”

The announcements come on the heels of an economic downturn and recent government budget cuts.
