Rep. John Larson of Connecticut’s 1st Congressional District is poised to become head of the Democratic Caucus, which would make him the fourth-most senior leader of House Democrats. Rep. Chris Van Hollen of Maryland, who had mentioned previously that he was interested in the position vacated by Rep. Rahm Emanuel, decided Monday to remain as chairman of the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee, freeing the spot for Larson. Larson, the current vice-chairman of the caucus, was just elected to his sixth term, and is not expected to face a challenge for the post.
