Mayor John DeStefano Jr. is opposed to the prospect of a youth curfew, he said in an interview with Hartford’s WTIC 1080. When pressed by interviewers, Ray Dunaway and Diane Smith about Hartford’s 9 p.m. teen curfew (enacted in August in response to a rise in teen shootings) and about reports that the local Meeting of the Moms group is pushing for the curfew, DeStefano said there is “not a lot of appetite” in the city. Two years ago, former Ward 2 Alderwoman Joyce Chen ’01 proposed the idea, but the proposal was shot down in public hearings. DeStefano added that the city should focus on the crime-causing population of released felons.
