In an ongoing audit of Transportation, Traffic and Parking Department employees, city officials discovered that two unnamed employees had edited out $3,200 in parking tickets two weeks ago, City Hall spokeswoman Jessica Mayorga said in a statement last week. One employee resigned, and the other was fired last week, the New Haven Register reported. “We caught their unethical behavior and now they’re going to have to pay,” City Controller Mark Pietrosimone said in the statement issued last Tuesday. He added that the two former employees will pay for all tickets and any late penalties incurred. According to the statement, the city will continue its investigation into the two former employees.
