With the regular season behind them, members of the women’s ice hockey team enter the ECAC quarterfinals looking to break a long-standing losing streak and seeking to move forward in the conference tournament.

The Bulldogs (11-12-6, 8-10-4 ECAC), who finished seventh in the conference with 20 points, will face off against No. 6 St. Lawrence (25-8-1, 18-3-1), in second with 37 ECAC points. The Elis will need to make sure their Canton foes do not have a chance to repeat last weekend’s performance: The Saints are coming off a 9-2 victory over Princeton (13-10-6, 11-8-3) and a 9-1 win over Quinnipiac (5-24-5, 2-16-4). And, while the Bulldogs had a triumphant weekend of their own, snagging a playoff spot thanks to last week’s pair of wins, the Saints have the definite edge in momentum going into the upcoming three-game series.

History is on St. Lawrence’s side, as well — the Saints are 30-0-1 against the Bulldogs in the all-time series. It will take the best the Bulldogs have to tally a win for the first time in the teams’ shared history, especially when so much — a trip to the semifinals — is at stake.
