Forget the Great Porn Debate. The real clash of the titans this weekend will be at the Whale — for men’s hockey fans, at least.

The Elis (10-9-4, 6-6-4 ECAC) will host two of the most formidable teams in the ECAC this weekend, St. Lawrence (10-14-4, 5-9-2) and No. 11 Clarkson (16-9-3). In the wake of a disappointing weekend against Princeton and Quinnipiac, every point now counts for the Elis, who sit precariously in sixth place (tied with arch-rival Harvard) heading into the final three weekends of conference play.

Earlier in the season, the Bulldogs pulled off a tough split on the road against their North-country foes, besting the Saints, 3-2, but surrendering a close 1-0 decision to the Golden Knights, the ECAC frontrunner for the majority of the season. Based on the parity in the league and the closeness of the first two contests, this weekend’s matches should be tough battles for both sides.

And as always, results are unpredictable in the ECAC. The Golden Knights — who hold on to a two-point lead over the Tigers and the Bobcats, both of whom swept the Elis this season — dropped both contests to the Saints this year. The Saints, meanwhile, also registered victories over Princeton, Harvard and Dartmouth, but could not overcome Colgate, a squad that the Bulldogs easily handled twice.
