Sometimes you just don’t want to be the rebound girl.

The Diplomats of Franklin and Marshall undoubtedly caught the wrath of a frustrated Yale women’s squash team, who were, several hours earlier, upended by a dominant Penn team.

The Bulldogs stormed into Lancaster for the nightcap of a Saturday double dose against two Pennsylvania schools and made quick work of their opponents. Captain Miranda Ranieri ’08 surrendered Yale’s only point of the entire contest, leaving the Elis just short of a perfect overall match.

The other eight women in the lineup won their individual matches 3-0 (9-0, 9-0, 9-0), blowing off steam after a 7-2 loss in Philadelphia just hours before, where Ranieri and Sarah Toomey ’11 picked up the only two Bulldogs wins.

The top of the lineup had little support from the bottom of the lineup — a group which seemed to collapse against the dominant Quakers. The fifth through ninth positions in the ladder managed to secure only one game, giving the Elis virtually no chance at victory Saturday afternoon.

Possibly reenergized after the Franklin and Marshall thrashing, the women’s squash team will return home to play Williams on Thursday, a team they trounced 8-1 last season.
