Best Newcomer-Lindsay Donaldson ’08, cross-country

A state champion in high school, Donaldson has found little trouble translating her success to the collegiate level. In her debut, she placed fourth at the Fordham Invitational and continued to earn top finishes throughout the fall, capping off a stellar freshman campaign with a sixth-place finish at the NCAA Championship. The first freshman to cross the finish line, she garnered All-American honors while tying the record for best ever finish by an Ivy League woman. If Donaldson is any indication of the cross-country team’s future, the Elis have a lot to look forward to.

Runner-up: Kali Nelson ’08, volleyball

Nelson, an outside hitter, played a key role in the women’s volleyball team’s remarkable run for the Ivy League Championship and NCAA Tournament. She amassed 222 kills on the season, averaging 2.44 per game — both good for fourth-best on the team.

Honorable mention: Harriet Thayer ’08, field hockey; Dwayne Whylly ’08, men’s soccer
